ABOUT WEC GROUP

WEC Group

Over the span of 42 years, WEC Group has emerged as a prominent figure in the UK's engineering landscape. Born in 1979 amid the constraints of 'the three day week', The Welding Engineering Company was the brainchild of former apprentices Steve Hartley and Ross Place. Facing redundancy, these skilled tradesmen, barely in their twenties, embarked on a journey to establish a welding and fabrication service, starting from a modest 1,000 square foot makeshift shed in Taylor Street, Darwen.

In 2006, Mr. Hartley spearheaded the establishment of WEC Group's in-house Training Academy, aimed at alleviating the engineering skill shortage in the local community while providing individuals with a pathway to a prosperous career. Our award-winning apprenticeship program stands as a beacon, guiding the way to bridge the gap between education and the practical needs of local engineering employers.

Leveraging cutting-edge design software and state-of-the-art laser cutting machines, WEC Laser offers a range of services including traditional flat-bed laser cutting, tube & box section, and fibre laser cutting. Furthermore, WEC Laser supplements its laser cutting services with Sheet Metalwork services and Coded Welding, ensuring a comprehensive solution for clients.
